Korea Electronic Travel Authorization (K-ETA)
ALL FOREIGN VISITORS who wish to enter the Republic of Korea must obtain K-ETA permission to board aircraft bound for Korea.
Please apply at least 72 hours before departure by accessing the K-ETA website or mobile app (K-ETA) (as assessment can take "more than 72 hours" depending on the situation).
- Fee : KRW 10,000 (additional card fee, 3% separately)
- Payment by credit and debit card - automatic calculation of fees by country based on exchange rate.
- If the application is completed with incorrect information, it cannot be corrected and re-application is required, so make sure to reconfirm the information entered before the final payment.
- Click Here or see below for more information. For other inquiries, please proceed through the Korea Electronic Travel Permit Center. (www.k-eta.go.kr → notice → questions)
K-ETA is valid for two years after issuance, and the number of arrivals is irrelevant. However, if the validity period of the passport is within two years when applying for K-ETA, the K-ETA is valid only until the validity period of the passport.
(K-ETA is not a visa. The issuance of K-ETA does not guarantee the entry of the Republic of Korea, and the entry availability of Korean immigration officials is finally determined according to the results of the immigration inspection.)
Applicable to: 112 countries that can enter without a visa. Click Here for updates.
Excluded: Multiple Nationalities (with valid Korean passport), USFK active duty soldiers, Flight crew and ferry crew, ABTC holders, transit passengers, UN passport holders, foreigners registered in Korea, Korean visa holders.
Subject to exemption: Those who are eligible for K-ETA application in principle, but have obtained permission by requesting an exemption from our ministry in advance (diplomatic, tolerant passport holders, families of active duty soldiers in Korea, members of the U.S. military)
Indoor Mask Mandate
Since the indoor mask mandate announced by Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) is still effective, masks must be constantly worn in all indoor spaces.
Please carefully consider the following if you are attending in person:
- Attendees are required to wear masks while attending indoor sessions, and to remove their masks only the minimal amount necessary to eat and drink.
- Attendees must be cautious with masking in indoor space outside the conference venue (e.g., on public transit or while eating away from the venue).
- To avoid crowded situations, we recommend making optimal use of the available spaces, particularly during coffee breaks.
Q-Code
ALL travelers from abroad are encouraged to register their travel and health information through the Quarantine COVID-19 Defense (Q-Code) system BEFORE traveling to Korea in order to streamline the airport arrival process.
Please register for Q-Code (click) 3 days* prior to departure (*You will not be able to proceed on Q-code website if you apply more than 3 days before your flight).
A QR code will be issued to the traveler’s email after registration. (Refer to Q-Code User Manual for details).
If you have questions on Q-Code or assistance with any technical difficulties, please see FAQ (click) or contact Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency (KDCA) at +82-2-2633-1339.
